More than 140 people participated in the first ever Utah Medical Reserve Corps Summit April 24-25 at the Yarrow Hotel in Park City.
This tremendous training event focussed on four of the national MRC core competencies including psychological first aid, liability and scope of practice, operations at mass dispensing sites and the role of public health in a disaster.
In addition, Guy Caspi, lead mass casualty incident trainer for Magen David Adom, Israel's emergency medical system, discussed medical response to terrorism incidents and the value and necessity of volunteer medical professionals.
Also, the San Diego MRC's medical director Dr. Asha Devereaux shared stories and answered questions about their sheltering operations during the 2007 fire storms in southern California. |
